Want to spice up homeschool? Try these few things...
We utilize Time4learning.com as part of our homeschool curriculum and the girls love it. For my Sumz girl (Autism), the visuals and interactive features work for her very well. I do sit with her and supervise though. I do love how she would sometimes get up and walk around while it's talking then comes back looks at the screen and chooses the answer to the question/problem. Just because she's not looking or sitting still does not mean she's not paying attention. For McK (my oldest), she uses it for Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Even though she needs additional help form me with Math, the quizzes provided on the site sure helps confirm she understands what she's learning. Another feature we love on this site is that they offer foreign language which is powered by Rosetta Stones with a 6 months unlimited foreign language access. We have chose Chinese to start with and we'll see how this goes...
Second site that we also use as part of our homeschool is called outschool.com. They offer all sorts of classes that my oldest loves. I signed her up for voice lessons and even though she loved singing I have to say her teacher from outschool.com sure helped her developed from when she first started. They also offer other classes that I've put McK in, such as organizing life skills (fridge, bedroom etc). I also loved their stock market classes offered. Depending on how old your child is, you can sign em up and at least give your child an introduction to that part of life.

Of course the last on the list for this blog is traveling. I love that I get to take the girls out and about not just within our county but out of state and out of the country. What credit cards do you use...for my family I use 2 credit cards for our travels. We use SouthWest Chase credit card which gave us about 50K+ points for us to use when we signed up. We use this for our travels around the West side of the US because it's affordable to fly SWA and so many flights to choose from. However, on our international or Hawaii flights, I use my Delta Skymiles Reserve AMEX that ties to DELTA flying membership. It earns us major points, great seats with Comfort seatings and club access to Delta Sky. We sometimes need to make changes due to my Sparkle Sumz (sensory issue days or just being sickly) and Delta have waived fees for us due to our Sky Priority membership/card. They do charge you a fee (it's a lot) but the benefits outweigh the charge. I'm sure it's different for everyone. Anyways, whether it's just heading to the hotel for a day trip, weekend to visit family or flying across countries and cities to see the grannies, it's just so exciting. We save up to make these expensive trips once a year since Hawaii, New Zealand and Tonga are just so far away from where we're located. I realized that vacation for some is to enjoy the beach, or sights, or ski etc, but for me it's being able to be around family and friends that I grew up with and enjoy the Tongan food that I do not get here in NC. However, as an autism Mama, I get to sleep in and relax while my sisters and Grannies take over the kids. For the cost of the trip, my relaxation is golden because as you know once you're away from family, the late nights and crazy life never seems to end. So hope you do get to unwind somehow in your own way! Cheers to y'all till the next post...
